cowabunga...dude

Workaholism is tiring but well worth the ability to spend $100 on cute clothes/shoes at Target. I am in dire need of summer clothes that FIT. So I picked up a few dress shirts, 2 pairs of shoes, a pair of black leggings, a pair of plaid dress shorts and a purple sweatshirt hoodie thing. I am officially a medium in clothes and a 10 in pants with no overhang. Too bad I am spending this evening chasing around kids in a foster care residence, probably wearing jeans and a beat up t-shirt to do this.

Also- I attempted to look at two-piece bathing suits but I'm still chicken. I don't know if I should bother or just get a nice one piece. The Victoria's Ssecret catalog has some nice bathing suits, Miracle bra tops and full coverage bottoms. I just don't know if I feel like spending dough on a suit I'm not sure will look good on me...or if I should go for it. I've seen women in far worse shape wearing bikinis with confidence, and I should probably try getting some confidence in how I look wearing next to nothing?!?!

I'm up .4 this week, no biggie. Still under 160. Losing 7 pounds in a month is alright by me, if it means I have to go up a fourth of a pound for one week. No complaints here. Life is good.

Time to make lunch before working 3-11 pm. I wish I didn't have 3 term papers to write up :-(

fatty fatty fat fat

Summer is approaching quite quickly. Quicker than expected. Short sleeve shirts and tank tops and bathing suits. My flabby arms, jiggly belly and loose thighs exposed for the world to see.

I like being healthy, I like looking good but I am semi-not-so happy about the lack of clothing involved with warmer weather.

I am not complaining for compliments, I'm just saying, that you can lose all of the weight in the world, exercise every day of the week and still be a little self-conscious about your body.

not much more

I will start by acknowledging how tired I am. This week has kicked my ass, and I still have one more day to push out. I wish I had the energy to write more tonight, but I'll try, because today is a big day.

Today is important, because, for the first time since middle school possibly early high school, I weigh under 160 pounds.

158.8 pounds to be exact.

Soooo, I've lost 35 and I still have 10.8 to go until I'm at goal. And then my blog will be about MAINTAINING @ 148 lbs and not complaining about how fat I am.

So I wanted to share, with you, that in the last month I've lost about 6+ pounds (3/20-4/17) doing the Wendie thing. I didn't get to exercise AT ALL this week and I dropped 2 lbs.

This week, I resolve to make a little time for activity. The weather is getting nicer and I am hoping to be down these last 10 pounds by July 4th.

See less of me (and you!) later...

good eats

People ask me how I have the time to cook healthy meals. Cooking with frozen veggies makes life easier. There are so many really fantastic seasoning packet thingies in the supermarket. I can cook a decent meal in less than 30 minutes, using stuff in my pantry as well. EVERYONE has the time to make cook better for themselves. You just have to want to use it.

Ideas for recipes de mi cocina:

  • Spicy Shrimp Pesto & Green beans almondine:
This meal consists of whole wheat spaghetti, frozen cocktail shrimps, a packet of pesto seasoning, olive oil and chopped garlic. You can add frozen veggies, spicy peppers and grated cheese. For this, I used a packet of green beans with almonds to toss into the mix. I also used hot cherry peppers, from a jar. This is a a QUICK and yummy meal to prepare, making you look a lot more gourmet than you actually are.

  • White Chili
Take a pound of ground chicken or turkey (as lean as you desire) and cook it up. Add cannellini beans (white kidney), White chili seasoning, onions and peppers and anything else you want in your chili. Top over brown rice, add cheddar cheese or just eat it plain. Full of fiber and protein and very tasty.

  • Feta and Spinach Dip
4 cup spinach, fresh, chopped (about 2 oz)
1/2 cup light cream cheese
1/2 cup fat-free sour cream
1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
1/4 cup chives, fresh, minced, divided
2 tsp fresh lemon juice
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp table salt, or less to taste (optional)

Place spinach in a small saucepan with 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil over high heat and then cook for 1 minute; drain well.

Place spinach, cream cheese, sour cream, feta cheese, 2 tablespoons of chives, lemon juice and pepper in a blender; puree. Taste dip and add salt if desired. Spoon dip into a serving bowl and sprinkle with remaining tablespoon of chives. Yields about 3 tablespoons of dip per serving.

Start eating better...now!

shrinkage

Down another .6 lbs bringing the grand total to:

160.2 lbs

32.8 pounds gone
12.2 pounds to go

I did the Wendie Plan thing all week and I loved it. I was able to mix up my days and feel good about my choices. Monday night, I got to eat a pizza roll and 3 girl scout samoa cookies after eating regularly throughout the day. Having a few days to plan overages on my points made me feel more in control then having to do the same 22 everyday. I also had a reunion with my measuring spoons. I measured salad dressing, peanut butter and other condiments.

I'm friggin' exhausted. Last night my friend Michelle came over and I polished off half a bottle of white wine, after making a delicious dinner for us in my NEW apartmento. Then I got philosophical and talked about being adults, stress, etc.

Effective 4/2/408, I'm currently signed up for: one full-time job, one part-time job and full-time graduate studies. I hope I hear back from the internship I interviewed for, so I can figure out life after August. I have a plan set up. I hope it works.

I can't wait to see my best friend Alexis. She's been a huge support to me as I've lost this weight (and in general). I also want to rub her belly, full of baby Evelyn.
